"When I was a child, I was given
a shortwave radio by my
grandfather. I would stay up all
night during the summer
months, listening to the rest of
the world with great fascination!
In October of 1999, I woke up
one morning and called a travel
agent to ask for a ticket to India.
The next thing I knew, I was in
Calcutta. I was 19 years old,
scared, alone, and standing in
Howrah Station. That was the
moment I realized I didn't know a
single thing. Because of what I
experienced from my time in
India, it has been my mission to
learn and grow as much as I can
by looking at the world in way
that I might not be accustomed
to. This has had great impact on
my creative, as well as personal
endeavors.

I worked in a local hospital from
2000-2006, and during this time, I
had planned to enter the
Radiology Program at a local
school here in Chattanooga.
Although I have always been
deeply drawn to the arts, I had,
at that time put most of my
artistic desires aside. One
particular day, while studying in
the library, I stood up to stretch
and a yellow book caught my
eye. I went over and pulled it off
the shelf and found it to be a
book about jobs in the field of
graphic design. I read through it
and immediately changed my
major from Allied health to
Graphic Design. Everything
started falling beautifully into
place and I knew I had made a
great decision!"
